Airports:
Costa Rica currently has two international airports
   1) Juan Santamaría International Airport,
  • Located 23 km west of downtown San Jose, in the city of Alajuela.
  • 25 min drive to the EcoVida Condo.
   2) Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport,
  • Located in the city of Liberia in the Province of Guanacaste
  • Liberia is about a 4 hour drive to San Jose
  • Local airlines (Nature Air and Sansa) make daily flights from Liberia to San Jose.

Taxis:
  • Any taxi from the Juan Santamaría International Airport will charge you a metered rate (higher than normal taxis), normally between $18-$30 depending on where you are going. Airport taxis are orange in color, while regular taxis are red. Because the EcoVida Condo is reasonably close to the airport, the metered rate should be close to the $18 range.
  • When traveling around the city by metered taxi the rates are very reasonable.
  • If you are in a metered taxi, be sure that the driver turns on the meter.
  • If you are traveling in a non-metered taxi be sure to arrange the price ahead of time - not recommended.
  • When traveling in a taxi try to have some idea of where you are going and how long it should take so that you are not driven around in circles.
  • Traveling by taxi in San Jose is safe, but you should always use common sense.
